September 11

This is how I spent my evening, coloring this and watching Face Off. Anyway, today I heard what I'd say is the most moving 9/11 talks in class out of all the 9/11 things we've ever done. I'm not saying that it isn't important to remember this day, because I truly believe we do need to honor the memory of all those people who died in the attacks. But, in the classes I've had recently, we've either a) briefly mentioned the subject and gone about our business or b) watched the same old same old clips we've seen the past ten years. That doesn't inspire much emotion aside from annoyance into most students which I think should not be the reaction!!
This was different, though. My history teacher spent most of the class today talking about his cousin's experience getting out of the tower. I'm not going to go into anymore detail than that. The way he told it though, I got a sense of what it was really like for the victims for the first time. The only thing I really remember about 9/11, having been five at the time, was watching some of the footage on TV and wondering why we were watching he same show over and over again. Needless to say, it didn't have a big impact on me. But my heart really does go out to everyone that lost loved ones to the towers. Two morose posts in a row, eesh. Adios! Count thy blessings.
